Christmas Time

November 26, 2007 at 3:11 pm (Music) (, )

Now that Thanksgiving has passed, Christmas is rapidly approaching. One of the things that really make it feel like Christmas to me, is Christmas music. In the movie The Rookie, with Dennis Quaid, there is a scene in the movie where Christmas music is being played the summer. Someone comments on it and the lady that’s playing the music says Christmas music is too good to only listen to one month a year. This is exactly how I feel. Thanks to XM Radio, I have had the opportunity to listen to the holiday favorites for the last three weeks. On top of that, they have five stations dedicated to the Christmas music.

  • XM103 – Holly
  • XM104 – Holiday Traditions
  • XM105 – Music City Holiday
  • XM106 – Classic Christmas
  • XM107 – Special X-Mas

XM Radio has a free trial if you want to check it out. If you are like me and enjoy Christmas music, what is you favorite Christmas Song? My favorite song is “Carol of the Bells”.

Google Rules

November 15, 2007 at 9:39 am (Technology) ()

I have heard a ton of rumors about a Google phone and how it was going to change the way the the wireless business does business. From their track record we could expect nothing less. Thanks to Terry Storch who found this video, I am really happy and really sad at the same time. Sad because there will be no Google phone but stoked on the Google Mobile OS.

Just Walk Across the Room

November 14, 2007 at 11:22 am (Ministry) ()

We just finished up a series at our church call “Just Walk Across the Room” by Bill Hybels. The whole series covered how simple it is to witness to all the people around us. I found that my perceptions of evangelism have been somewhat tainted over the years. I remember going door to door with various Christian tracks and inviting people to church. I myself found that this was not very successful. Bill really tries to emphasize that evangelism does not have to be some huge event; it could be as simple as talking to a neighbor and inviting them over to dinner. Here are a few things I took away from the series.

  • Sometimes “witnessing” means just planting seeds.
  • Seeds sometimes take time to grow.
  • Sometimes we just have to be friends with Non-Christians without making them a project.
  • We must error on radical acceptance and grace.
  • We need to be in tune with God’s prompting (gut feeling) for opportunities.
  • We have a story and we need to tell it.

Here is a little taste to Just Walk Across the Room (The Book)

Thank you Craig Groeschel

November 3, 2007 at 3:53 am (Getting Started)

I just wanted to give a quick shout out and thanks to Craig Groeschel at Life Church. I have been reading his blog at LifeChruch.tv :Swerve this last week about the importance of blogging. Since I got into reading blogs I wanted to started my own but always hesitated because it seemed so difficult or time consuming. The last blogs about blogging I found to be very encouraging and informative. I took in all the advice and here I am on WordPress because it seemed to be what everyone is using or liked. So thank you again
