Just Walk Across the Room
We just finished up a series at our church call “Just Walk Across the Room” by Bill Hybels. The whole series covered how simple it is to witness to all the people around us. I found that my perceptions of evangelism have been somewhat tainted over the years. I remember going door to door with various Christian tracks and inviting people to church. I myself found that this was not very successful. Bill really tries to emphasize that evangelism does not have to be some huge event; it could be as simple as talking to a neighbor and inviting them over to dinner. Here are a few things I took away from the series.
- Sometimes “witnessing” means just planting seeds.
- Seeds sometimes take time to grow.
- Sometimes we just have to be friends with Non-Christians without making them a project.
- We must error on radical acceptance and grace.
- We need to be in tune with God’s prompting (gut feeling) for opportunities.
- We have a story and we need to tell it.
Here is a little taste to Just Walk Across the Room (The Book)
